Elementary Education Major

Inspire and teach elementary school students

The Elementary Education major is for students who are interested in becoming elementary teachers in grades Pre-Kindergarten through six. Bridgewater College’s teacher education program is accredited by the state of Virginia and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.

You should major in Elementary Education to pursue licensure to teach grades PreK-6.

Consult early with the teacher education program faculty regarding your plan of study. If you are transferring to Bridgewater from another college or university, you should meet with a member of the teacher education program as soon as you can to plan your education course sequence.

For more information about courses and licensure, consult the Liberal Studies Major in the Bridgewater College Academic Catalog.
