Health and Human Sciences Facilities

Bridgewater College’s health and human sciences facilities support academic, athletic, and professional training experiences. From state-of-the-art labs to athletic fields and wellness centers, these spaces enhance student learning and development.

Nininger Hall

Nininger Hall, which was significantly renovated and expanded in 2014, is home to health and human sciences classrooms, faculty offices, athletic training facilities, and more. It also hosts the College’s gym, swimming pool, locker rooms, weight room and indoor athletic facilities.

Moomaw Hall

Moomaw is home to the human development and family science classrooms and faculty offices. It has the only child development laboratory of its kind in the state of Virginia. It also hosts extensive kitchen facilities and food science lab resources.

Funkhouser Center for Health and Wellness

The Funkhouser Center houses a classroom for all upper-level athletic training courses and is also the site of two practicum experiences.

Jopson Complex

The athletic fields associated with the Jopson Athletic Complex are the primary sites for athletic training practice. In addition, anyone interested in coaching or teaching specific sports or skills can participate in or observe one of BC’s Division III intercollegiate sports.

Varsity Weight Room

The strength and conditioning weight room is 3600 Sq. ft. with racks for Olympic lifting and all primary lifts. The room is used by all 23 varsity sports and accommodates more than 600 student-athletes. Featuring over 17,000 total pounds of weight in the room, every rack has an Olympic bar, Texas power ball, football bar, trap bar, safety bar, cambar bar and attachments, suspension trainer and full band set.
