Lauren Eye Receives Bridgewater College’s 2022 Sociology Award

Bridgewater College senior Lauren Eye was recognized for excellence by the Department of Sociology and Criminology for 2022.

Eye received the Zygmunt Bauman Scholar Award, which is presented to a student who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and leadership in the classroom and exemplifies academic citizenship in the Department of Sociology.

Eye is a health and exercise science and sociology double major from Fredericksburg, Va. She is a member of the national leadership society Omicron Delta Kappa. In her time at BC, Eye has been a SOAR mentor, Resident Advisor, academic coach, a tutor and a teacher’s assistant for human anatomy. In addition to the Zygmunt Bauman Scholar Award, Eye also is the 2022 winner of the Bridgewater College Founder’s Award. The Founder’s Award recognizes a Bridgewater College senior who best demonstrates the values of the College’s Founder, D.C. Flory, both in and out of the classroom.

After graduation, Eye plans to pursue a career as a special education teacher in Page County, Va.
