Bridgewater College offices will be closed starting at noon on Friday, December 20 through Wednesday, January 1 for the holiday season. Campus offices will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.

Credit card gifts must be completed on or before December 31, 2024, to be counted as a 2024 gift. Checks must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2024. Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 7 and 8

Bridgewater College will present a holiday extravaganza of familiar Christmas carols including, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Jingle Bells.”

Bridgewater College will present a holiday extravaganza of familiar Christmas carols on Friday, Dec.7, at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. Both performances will be in Cole Hall, and are free and open to the public.

The extravaganza includes the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music at Bridgewater College.

The Symphonic Band will perform “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” by Albert Hague and arranged by Larry Clark, and “The Polar Express,” by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, arranged by Jerry Brubaker.

Among the pieces the Jazz Ensemble will perform are “Deck the Halls,” arranged by Ted Blumenthal, and “Mary, Did You Know” by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene, arranged by Rich Sigler.

The Chorale and the Concert Choir will perform under the direction of Curtis Nolley, visiting director of choral music at Bridgewater. Lacey Johnson, instructor of music at the college, will accompany the Chorale and the Concert Choir on piano.

The Chorale will present “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy,” a West Indian spiritual, arranged by Robert De Cormier, and the ever popular “Jingle Bells,” arranged by Mark Hayes.

Among the pieces the Concert Choir will perform are “Do You Hear What I Hear?,” arranged by Harry Simeone, and “Fum, Fum, Fum!” a Catalonian carol, arranged by Mack Wilberg.

The Bridgewater College Handbell Choir will perform at both concerts.

Friday’s program will include a clarinet trio, the Gospel Choir, a mixed ensemble and a percussion ensemble.

Saturday’s program will include a flute choir, Chamber Strings, Chordially Yours (a female a cappella choir) and a saxophone ensemble.
