Bridgewater College will be adding four to five new water bottle-filling stations to campus thanks to a $4,500 Think Green Grant from Waste Management of Virginia. The money will help complete the initial phase of the sustainability-focused project, which aims to reduce the amount of plastic water bottles used at the College. Currently, Bridgewater has 11 water bottle-filling stations across campus. The College received the first grant for its water bottle-filling stations project from Waste Management last year.
“This grant plays a significant role in improving environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives on campus and throughout our community,” said Teshome Molalenge, Director of the Office of Community Engagement and Sustainability. “Bridgewater College has maintained a great working relationship with Waste Management for many years and we treasure this partnership.”
The Waste Management Think Green Grants are part of the environmental services company’s commitment to encourage the development and sustainability of environmental solutions that improve a community’s environment. The merit-based grant program supports projects that are implemented to address community needs.
“Waste Management is pleased to support a variety of projects and programs over the years throughout Virginia to advance sustainability, increase recycling rates, environmental education, and beautify our communities,” said Stephany Holguin, Public Affairs Coordinator for Waste Management. “These efforts are true community partnerships, and our team will work alongside our grant recipient to implement a successful program.”
