Author Maggie Jackson will present an Endowed Lecture on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College. She will speak on the subject of her recent book, “Uncertain: The Wisdom and Wonder of Being Unsure.” The event is free and open to the public.
“Uncertain” explores why we should seek not-knowing in an era of flux and angst. It was nominated for a National Book Award, named an Amazon Top New Release, and selected as one of the 25 best non-fiction titles of 2024 according to the Next Big Idea Club led by Malcolm Gladwell, Susan Cain, Dan Pink and Adam Grant. Lauded as “surprising and practical” (Gretchen Rubin) and “remarkable and persuasive” (Library Journal), “Uncertain” has been featured in media worldwide.
Jackson was previously a columnist for The Boston Globe and foreign correspondent for the Associated Press in Europe and Asia. Her book “Distracted: Reclaiming our Focus in a World of Lost Attention” sparked a global conversation about the costs of fragmenting our attention and won the 2020 Dorthy Lee Book Award for excellence in tech criticism.
A book signing will follow the lecture and copies of “Uncertain” will be available for purchase.
The endowed lecture is sponsored by the Anna B. Mow Symposium on Comparative Religious Ethics.
