Special Collections Exhibition: “Standing in the Spotlight: Bridgewater College Theatre Through the Years”

Niall McArdle – Fiction Reading

Niall McArdle is the winner of the RTÉ Guide/Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition, and has been shortlisted for the Cúirt New Writing Prize, the Francis MacManus Short Story Contest, and the Hennessy Literary Awards. He lives in Dublin, Ireland.

Endowed Lecture: Dr. Katie Hinde

Dr. Katie Hinde will present an endowed lecture at Bridgewater College on Thursday, October 23. Hinde will speak on “The Milk of Humankindness.” Shaped by over 300 million years of natural selection, milk is older even than dinosaurs and reflects the unique evolutionary trajectory of each mammalian species.

Bridgewater College's Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Christine Carrillo, will perform on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. in Cole Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public.

Sydne Moseley is a multimedia abstract painter and curator based in Chesterfield, Va. She is an art educator and owner of the studio gallery Art by Moseley, a space she says is designed to foster creativity and collaboration.

Olympians Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall will present an endowed lecture at Bridgewater College on Friday, November 14, 2025. A meet and greet will follow the lecture. An Olympic power couple redefining resilience, excellence and influence in sports, Tara and Hunter will speak on “Grit, Resilience and Goal Setting.”

Oratorio Choir Concert

The Oratorio Choir will perform Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise. It is a modern setting of the traditional Latin Mass, but with a unique twist: each movement is given an English title that reflects a metaphorical and emotional journey rather than a liturgical one. Gjeilo describes the work as a spiritual and human progression—from the ethereal and cosmic to the grounded and earthly.

Irshad Manji will present an endowed lecture at Bridgewater College on Wednesday, January 21. A book signing will follow the lecture. Manji will speak on, "Building Conversation Across Divides." Manji is the founder of Moral Courage College, which equips people worldwide to turn heated issues into healthy conversations and sustained teamwork.

Maggie Jackson will present an endowed lecture at Bridgewater College on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. A book signing will follow the lecture. Jackson will speak about the subject of her recent book, Uncertain: The Wisdom and Wonder of Being Unsure. It explores why we should seek not-knowing in an era of flux and angst.

Future Scholars Institute 2026

Bridgewater’s Future Scholars Institute is a grant-funded, two-week residential program that allows local rising high school juniors and seniors to experience college life firsthand by living and studying on campus.
