Jill Jensen is a mixed media artist residing in central Virginia. Printmaking, dyeing and painting form the basis of her mixed media fiber art.
Beginning in 2001, Jensen began creating a piece of fiber art each week and journaling on the back of the work. This exhibition of Jensen’s weekly fiber art and embroideries marks the passage of a quarter of a century capturing life events one week at a time. All of the fabrics are hand painted and printed by the artist.
Jensen has served as the juror for numerous art exhibitions and curated “The Matrix: Prints from the Permanent Collection” at the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College and “Monstrous and Miniscule” at Riverviews Artspace in Lynchburg, Va. Her work has been included in regional, national and international exhibitions and 28 one-person shows. She has been a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in both their locations, Virginia and France, and has had 18 artist-in-education residencies.
