Anna Westfall, Associate Professor of Art at Eastern Mennonite University, explores the concept of entropy in this mixed-media installation art exhibition. “In Entropy” features sculptures made from materials like stoneware, porcelain, wire, foam and rubber and is augmented by light and sound, all of which are intended to instill a sense of chaos within viewers and provoke the instinctual response of seeking stability in the unpredictable.

Westfall holds a B.F.A. from James Madison University and an M.F.A. from the University of New Mexico. Outside of Virginia, she has previously exhibited her work in New Mexico, Georgia, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.

“In Entropy” will be showcased Monday, Jan. 6, through Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the Beverly Perdue Art Gallery located on the main level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons. The art exhibition will have an opening reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, with an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. The art exhibition, reception and artist’s talk are free and open to the public.

The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday.
