Dr. Naomi Oreskes is the author of “The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change,” which laid to rest the idea that there was significant disagreement in the scientific community about the reality of global warming and its human causes. She teaches the History of Science and is an Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. She is the author of several books, most recently Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming, co-written with Erik M. Conway, which received the 2011 Watson-David Prize from the History of Science Society.
Oreskes will speak on the topic “Why Trust Science?” Her talk will be followed by a book signing. This Endowed Lecture is sponsored by the Anna B. Mow Symposium on Comparative Religious Ethics. It is free and open to the public.
