Jill Jensen is a mixed media artist residing in Central Virginia. Printmaking, dyeing and painting form the basis of her mixed media fiber art. The beauty of the region is a constant source of inspiration.

Jensen has served as the juror for numerous art exhibitions and curated “The Matrix: Prints from the Permanent Collection” at the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College and “Monstrous and Miniscule” at Riverviews Artspace, Lynchburg, Virginia. Her work has been included in regional, national and international exhibitions and twenty eight one-person shows. She has been a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in both their locations, Virginia and France, and has had eighteen artist-in-education residencies.

This exhibition of Jensen’s weekly fiber art and embroideries marks the passage of a quarter of a century. The weekly pieces are a journal, both visual on the front side and a written on the back. All of the fabrics are hand painted and printed by the artist.

“Marking Time” will be showcased Tuesday, Aug. 26, through Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Beverly Perdue Art Gallery located on the main level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons. The art exhibition will have an opening reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, with an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. The art exhibition, reception and artist’s talk are free and open to the public.
